Street Performances
 

The Path of the Heart Center invites you to add a street theatre or musical performance to your tour or visit to Tzfat. The performances are available in a variety of styles: Carlebach, Klezmer, or Jewish ethnic.

The Orchard of Holy Apple Trees:
Musical Street Performance

Among the mystical alleyways, in the evocative ancient quarters, or in one of the stone courtyards of the Artists Quarter, musicians sit and play quiet melodies: oud players, a flautist, a violinist and a percussionist with an ancient tambourine…
During your tour, your group will reach a site which is today located in the heart of the Old City, the Orchard of Holy Apple Trees. In days gone by it was at the edge of town. This is the spot where, according to tradition, the Holy Ari — Rabbi Yitzchak Luria — and his disciples used to gather on the Sabbath Eve, dressed in white, and walk out of the city to greet the Sabbath Queen.
This is the very spot where many of the most well-known Sabbath hymns in the Jewish world (Lecha Dodi, Yedid Nefesh, Ya Ribon Olam, and more…) were written. The musical street performance is delivered in traditional Tzfat style. The performance includes Shabbat songs and melodies written here. The Tzfat ambience of mystical alleyways and melodies that came into being here contribute to a joyful and exhilarating experience that touch the heart.

Jewish Ethnic Street Performance
The performance takes place in a Tzfat ambiance, delicate and soulful, including a selection of ethnic instruments (oud, African drum, shepherd’s flute, and more).

Carlebach Style Street Performance

The performance takes place in a typical Tzfat setting; the guitar and clarinet carry the melodies in an atmosphere of ecstasy and joy. Participants join in the music-making with cymbals and tambourines.
